I ordered these new Handbook Journal sketchbooks from Dick Blick. I do like these books. The paper has a fantastic tooth and will take a light watercolor wash nicely.
The pens didn't come with them. Just some that I have and thought they would add interest to the picture. Although I did recently buy a new Pitt artist pen. Had no idea that they were so smooth to use. Almost like using a rollerball pen.
I am an artist blacksmith and former watercolor artist. I own a lot of sketchbooks and some of them even have sketches in them. I'm hoping that this web site and the ability to post my sketchbook pages will give a little incentive to sketch every day. And I would think that being in the company of people who do sketch daily will give me incentive to just do the work. My interests for sketching are old buildings and anything railroad. I am a railfan and try to take time to go and photograph trains. Train watching provides me with a lot of free time since there is a lot of time between trains so I should be able to fill volumes. For anyone interested in my blacksmith work, www.thayerhouse.com/Doug will get you to my pages.
